Outdoor adventure day trips and residentials are a great way for schools to meet key learning objectives and provide a well-rounded education for pupils.
There are plenty of considerations when it comes to finding the ideal experience for your class, from choosing where to go and what to do, to finding a package that fits your curriculum goals and, crucially, your budget.
So if you’re thinking of booking your next adventure, here are just a few simple reasons why you should choose Be Well Outdoors…
There’s an exciting world of outdoor adventure out there to discover, one that will challenge and thrill your class in equal measure.
But while you may want to push your pupils out of their comfort zone to grow their confidence and boost their resilience, it goes without saying that their health and safety remains paramount.
At Be Well Outdoors we have 25 years of experience delivering high-quality outdoor adventure experiences to schools.
We are owned and operated by a local authority, Wigan Council, so you can be sure that we maintain the highest levels of safety and standards – allowing children and young people to explore their limits within safe boundaries and in a welcoming, inclusive and carefully controlled environment.
For our team of qualified and friendly instructors, this isn’t just a job but a way of life.
At Be Well Outdoors we live and breathe outdoor adventure and we love sharing that enthusiasm with our visitors.
We’ve been all over the world enjoying adventures of our own, from mountaineering across Europe to kayaking in Africa and South America.
So we know first-hand how life-enriching and character forming outdoor adventure pursuits can be.
By teaching others about all the exhilarating ways to get active in the great outdoors, we hope to inspire new passions in your pupils that will last a lifetime.
Be Well Outdoors has three incredible north west locations for you to choose from, depending on the adventure you have in mind.
Our watersports activity centre at Scotman’s Flash can be found in the fabulous Flashes of Wigan and Leigh – the first and only National Nature Reserve in the whole of Greater Manchester.
It’s the perfect place to plot a morning or afternoon escape into nature, mere minutes from the urban hustle and bustle of Wigan town centre.
Likewise, our high ropes courses and woodland activity hub can be discovered amid the picturesque Haigh Woodland Park, one of the north west’s best-loved visitor attractions. Here you can soar among the treetops or set up camp in our glorious ancient woodland.
Last, but certainly not least, Low Bank Ground is our outdoor adventure centre sitting on the calm and beautiful shores of Coniston Water at the heart of the Lake District Natural Park, making it the ideal spot for an unforgettable school residential.
Here you’ll enjoy breathtaking views of the Cumbrian countryside, and be able to explore, interact with and conquer the rugged natural landscape.
We have so many exciting outdoor activities to choose from, both on land and on water.
Get wet and wild with kayaking, canoeing our paddleboarding; head to the hills for ghyll scrambling, rock climbing or orienteering; or mix things up with archery, axe throwing, or problem-solving games.
Or why not take fun to new heights on our high ropes; get creative with natural arts and crafts; or hands-on with nature with a spot of pond dipping or bug hunting?
Whether it’s a half-day, full-day or multi-day trip you’re looking for, our dedicated booking team will guide you through all the options and help you pick the perfect package to suit your school’s needs and budget.
We’ll work with you to tailor a bespoke, varied and affordable adventure that’s just for you, delivering an experience like no other and supporting your specific learning objectives.
We passionately believe all young people should have the opportunity to experience our natural environment and learn about the great outdoors.
But we also understand that everyone has a budget, so when it’s not possible for you to get out into nature, we do our very best and move every mountain to bring nature to you!
We’ll work with you closely to create a one-off or longer-term programme of outdoor activities, delivered at your school by our expert instructors.
We also have a portable 8-metre climbing wall available to hire throughout the north west, which comes with everything you need including two instructors, harnesses and helmets.
Whatever your goals or your budget, you can trust Be Well Outdoors to deliver an unrivalled outdoor adventure experience your pupils won’t soon forget – for all the right reasons.
